Cyber Noir Redux (Book Six) (The Feedback Loop 6) eBook Harmon Cooper, George C. Hopkins Reviews
The following comments are based on an advanced review copy of this novel.
If Harmon Cooper had the time, I'm not sure what I'd be more in awe of the sheer volume of prolific writing, or the quality of it. This 6th book in the series (one of many by Mr. Cooper), has shown no sign of degradation as the both the series and the author advance to new levels. Mrs. Hughes bouncing baby boy acts as the strangest ambassador while we tour more of the real world in this crazy future than ever before. The thematic conflicts here are mostly the same from the previous books; humanism, existentialism, etc. The tricky part in navigating these become the challenge of keeping the reflections on these themes fresh. Cooper manages to do this by integrating very novel mechanics in an already expansive world. Even though we feel like we've been here before, nothing feels stale. It's a lot like eating at your favorite restaurant. Even if you order the same thing 5 nights in a row, it feels more like an iterative change each time rather than a simple refresh.
The character development is also showing signs of improvement. Though I wish the dialogue was a bit more consistent in it's cleverness, there is a good balance that keeps the writing accessible without being pandering. This is especially the case in the tongue in cheek pop culture references that even the most astute reader might overlook occasionally. You start to wonder if the character's themselves have started accessing historical databases just to make sure they are as in on the joke as the reader.
The only criticism I have is that the tension that is created isn't always created with the level of gravitas that seems most fitting. Sometimes there are consequences and sometimes there are not. The characters seem to reflect unevenly at times about what the consequences might be and sometimes they don't. Maybe it's just the way Quantum operates as a result of his "tenure" in The Loop. We will have to wait and see how it develops through the closing of the series.
Overall, I've been recommending this series for fans of LitRPGs, and books like Ender's Game and Ready Player One. This recommendation continues with the newest entrant. Coopers commitment to the series (and his other works) is like a well that we've barely begun to explore. Here's to hoping the stories keep flowing.

General Theme (minor spoilers)
Once again our hero, Quantum Hughes (QH), finds himself and his friends engrossed in another cyber-diving experience. This time Quantum gets himself trapped in his original feedback loop world as he inexplicably and perhaps unwisely, yields to the temptation of trying hooking up with his old love, Dolly. Needless to say the consequences are unexpected.
Some thoughts on “Cyber Noir Reduxâ€...
Another action filled QH sci-fi, fantasy filled adventure. It’s unbelievable that the author, Harmon Cooper, can still find fresh and intriguing scenarios after 6 books... but he does. Humor, as always, is a prominent feature of this sixth book, resulting in several laugh-out-loud moments.
Another great addition to the Feedback Loop series.
As it is... 5 Stars.

The whole series is excellent. The story is great and we see quantum mature some this time around. The comedy is still spot on but there was more dramatic elements this time around as well. Excellent read.
Over too quick. I'm totally hooked on this. I took some time out to read "Life is a Beautiful Thing" and I'm so glad I did. The connection between RW, VR, and human droids is very well thought out. Keep 'El coming.
The best book in the series so far - hands down.
Full of future-speak and loaded with more of Cooper's favorite Dream Team characters - all amped up by several hundred percent.
It probably was difficult for Cooper to stop the ingenious flow of ideas for this 6th book in the series. The characters are too much fun to manipulate, the themes are too universal to leave unmolested, the settings are too fertile not to bastardize and twist, the dreams and realities of each world are too unsacred to leave undisturbed.
Cooper goes over the top with Quantum, Frances Euphoria, Doc, Rocket, Sophia, Aiden, Evan, Luther, Veneere, and of course, Dolly. Add in Scarface, Tony, and a few more colorful and warped Cyber Noir lowlifes and you have a whole lot of turmoil for our hero Quantum Hughes to overcome.
For final outcome - as if Harmon Cooper would ever leave these folks alone to die in their dream worlds or real worlds or somewhere in the pixel spaces between - there is no way to see it coming.
You'll be inspired to go back and read the entire series once again, just to enjoy the color and raunch of the Feedback Loop in all its twisted glory.
Hint look for the clues to Cooper's other series along the way. Other reviewers have made mention of a few of them, which is not really necessary if you will read the 'Back of the Book S**t' section.
Get ahold of this series ASAP and start living out the amazing journey of dreams that awaits you in a future world that may just invade yours...someday.
